In Sweden, the Lift Plan (LLP) regulates training for mobile work platforms. According to LLP, which is developed by the Lift Training Council, the basic training for mobile work platforms is valid for five years. After this period, a refresher course should be completed to ensure that the operator has up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and best practices. Thus, under LLP, mobile work platform training in Sweden is valid for five years.
The Swedish Work Environment Authority, which oversees workplace safety in Sweden, requires employers to provide their employees with sufficient information, training, and instruction to use machines and equipment safely. This means that employers are responsible for ensuring that employees operating forklifts and other mobile work platforms have adequate knowledge and competence. Although there is no formal requirement to hold a specific certification, such as a Lift Card, it is issued after completing a training course according to the Lift Plan (LLP). This serves as proof that the individual has received relevant training and meets safety requirements.
Mobile platforms, also known as mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs), are machines or equipment used to temporarily provide access to work areas at height. They are commonly used in construction, maintenance, and repair work where access to difficult-to-reach places must be achieved safely and efficiently.
The cost of lift training can vary depending on several factors, such as course length, content, and whether it is a basic or refresher course. In Sweden, the price for a basic mobile work platform training typically ranges from 2,000 SEK to 5,000 SEK. For example, lift training at Worksecure costs 2,050 SEK, with the VAT-inclusive price being 2,562 SEK. Payment is required at registration.
Regulations state that individuals in a lift must wear a harness and lanyard. Before using the lift, a risk assessment must be conducted to determine if a personal fall protection system is necessary. There are two specific scenarios to be aware of: ✔ If there are rules requiring personal fall protection to be used in situations with a risk of collision. ✔ If working near power lines, where a boom lift may be required for increased safety.

Course Description

According to the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations, anyone operating a lift must be well-versed in the work and possess both theoretical and practical knowledge for safe use—in practice, having proper lift training. This course provides the necessary knowledge to work safely with a mobile elevating work platform. It grants you the A1, A3, B1, and B3 certifications, covering most lifts in use today.

Who Needs a Lift Certificate?
